℃ - Treating
In the last room of this ‘Endless Journey’ exhibition, I pick up a theme of ‘treating’, which is a collaboration project among Doctors Without Borders, poems by Shuntaro Tanigawa and myself. We receive treatment from someone when we are injured or feel sick. It might have been your mother the first time you received one, or it might have been your farther, grandmother, grandfather, brothers or sisters, schoolteacher or doctors and nurses. You might have felt their affectionate look and warmth of their hands when they gave a treatment to you. Then they might have talked to you, and you knew it healed you while listening to them. At this point, you could pull yourself together to determine to heal the wound. Those who work for Doctors Without Borders give this whole process of treatment to those in need, wherever in the world they are wanted.
In this room, the audience is the one to give a treatment. But you are not doing the actual treatment. Instead, what you do is that you place your hand on the thermometers by outlining ‘treating’ and you would feel your body temperature. Then you draw a line and leave a note about what you feel and think of your experience in the room. Your words must be a reflection, encouragement, healing and fresh energy for the doctors.
