Maki Fine Arts is pleased to present "framework - Shigeru Moroizumi / Magnhild Øen Nordahl / Fuminao Suenaga," a three-artist group show, from Saturday, December 15, 2018 through Sunday, February 17, 2019. Using varying materials and approaches, each artist applies postminimalism to their subject matter, creating words expressed with scale-less thermometers, wood sculptures adopting a half-timbered framing method, and rearrangeable paintings in the form of silhouetted puzzles called tangrams.

Shigeru Moroizumi
Born 1954 in Kanagawa, Japan, Moroizumi graduated with a BFA in sculpture from Tama Art University. Using thermometers without scales as medium since 1990, Moroizumi has visualized a world composed by temperature through various formats including objects, videos, and installations. His works have been featured in the gallery space of SHISEIDO THE STORE (Ginza, Tokyo, 2018). Major shows include "℃-Pulsating Spaces" (solo, Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei, 2010), and "Color-Hunting" (group, 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT, Tokyo, 2013). He has been a resident artist of GALLERY 360° (Tokyo) since 2000 where he has held eight solo shows.

Magnhild Øen Nordahl
Born 1985 in Ulsteinvik, Norway, and currently residing in Bergen, Nordahl has been showcasing sculptural work incorporating architectural constructions and scientific systems. Major exhibitions include "Occupational Knots" (solo, Kunsthall Stavanger, Norway, 2015), "NN-A NN-A NN-A - New Norwegian Abstraction" (group, Astrup Fearnley Museet, Oslo, 2015), and "This House" (group, Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2013). This will be Nordahl's first show in Japan.

Fuminao Suenaga
Born 1974 in Yamagata, Japan, Suenaga graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1999 with a
major in painting. His paintings and three-dimensional works are based on visual subject matters inspired by elements relating to exhibition spaces and observations made during day-to-day activities. Recent solo shows include "Search Results" (Maki Fine Arts, Tokyo, 2018) and "APMoA Project ARCH vol. 11 Museum Piece" (Aichi Prefecture Museum of Art, 2014). His works have also been seen in group shows such as "The Potential of Intangible Art Vol. 3 Transform / Paint" (with Yui Yaegashi, gallery αM, Tokyo, 2016) and "Born in 1974" (part 1 of a 40th anniversary show, Museum of Modern Art, Gunma, 2014).
